The Real Housewives of Sydney Season 1 Episode 5 Recap
We start Episode 5 back aboard the Sahana. What had our beautiful boat become?!
The weather during the night grew quite treacherous and we needed to dock. Unbeknownst to the women (myself included), Lisa used this opportunity to take leave of us and return home (this time her rescue was without the aid of an inflatable swan!)

Considering the happenings of the previous night and how upset she was, I can’t say that I was surprised, but I did feel sad that Lisa was no longer with us.

After a terrible night sleep, I met Melissa and Krissy on the main deck for a chat. I was really confronted by the conversation I arrived to - and any suggestion that Lisa was faking her troubles.

I got quite aggressive with the girls, firstly because I couldn't get a word in, and secondly, as the person who knows Lisa best I felt I owed it to her to defend her to the other girls.
Lisa was hurting – anyone could see that - and I grew frustrated that they could pass it off something less than what it was; a woman, emotionally raw and in need of help. I don’t believe any of that was attention-seeking behaviour. It was real to Lisa, and it was devastating for her.

I felt sad watching Lisa and David talking to each other upon her return, but I was also happy and relieved to hear that they will go ahead and get some professional help. Being able to confront that and admit it to each other, in my opinion, is incredibly brave. I hope they can work on their problems and get back to the positive marriage that they once had, and which I remember fondly.
The interaction between Melissa and AthenaX is painful and awkward to watch.
Despite AthenaX’s insistence that Melissa looks flat, tired and down, Melissa has absolutely no trouble at all telling her that she is wrong and that she is simply relaxed - and no, she doesn't need to make eye contact with her if she doesn't want to!
AthenaX raises the concerns about Victoria, and infers that she is a troublemaker. Melissa states that since she hadn't heard the allegations with her own ears she wasn’t going to listen to gossip, which was a perfectly good explanation - and a good lesson for everyone.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there, and of course AthenaX takes the opportunity to put Melissa’s stance down to her not loving herself...really?!
She sounds like a strong confident woman to me! AthenaX explains that her intention was to put a spiritual bomb under Melissa to awaken her.
For Athena to infer that Melissa is somehow ‘less than’, that she’s here to just ‘work on the surface’ - I’m sorry, but I found that so insulting.
I love when Matty’s girls broach the subject of getting a dog. Her idea of babysitting a dog for 24 hours to determine if its right for Matty and Michael and their family seems smart and sensible.
Walking 7 dogs would be difficult for anyone but Matty trying to walk 7 dogs in 7 inch Louboutins was hilarious! Next time Matty maybe just try one dog...but definitely get one (sorry Michael!)!
I adore Melissa and watching her interview nannies was hilarious!
She is an incredible and devoted mum, so I know she would have a hard time leaving her babies with anyone. The prospective nanny looks petrified when Melissa fires away with her interview questions reminiscent of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ - “you have fifteen minutes to spare, do you a) have a cup a tea? b) call a friend? or c) clean?”.
After the nanny confessed she won't pin down Cuba to brush his hair, I think it’s best she phone a friend...but please check that the oven is off again on your way out!

On our way to Tim Olsen’s gallery for AthenaX’s exhibition, Krissy and Matty admit they feel apprehensive about seeing Lisa again, as it’s the first time we’ll all be together since our holiday.
Krissy let me know that she is unhappy with me for not calling Lisa out on her bad behavior (her social media, etc), and for giving her a free pass; unlike AthenaX, who Krissy feels I hold to a different standard.
The difference is this - I have been friends with Lisa for a very long time. I understand Lisa, and I know where’s she’s coming from; and whilst I don't agree with all of her social media posts, I have a choice not to like them and I don't personally feel offended by them.
AthenaX is someone I hardly know, but from what I’ve observed, I’ve found her behavior at times to be judgmental, condescending, and rude. When you have no other foundation to judge someone by, you can only go by how they act. A piece of advice I live my life by, “when someone shows you who they are, believe them”. I also need to point out that I’ve known Krissy for 20 years and consider her one of my closest friends (and family!) and really, I do not want to get caught in the middle of an argument between her and Lisa.
This is an amazing moment for AthenaX, and she looks stunning. I can totally empathise with how nervous she must be – her art isn’t just slapping paint on a canvas and giving it a price tag. These are pieces of her soul, her creations, and she’s unveiling them for all of us to see and judge. I don’t think I would be that brave!
Once we’re inside the gallery, Tim Olsen makes a beautiful speech introducing AthenaX – that her work is an exposure of the soul inside her, showcasing her sensitivity and vulnerability, and how her work reflects the exterior courage that she possesses.
AthenaX gave her speech, which was eloquent and perfect…until “you know a lot of people think I’m perfect…”.

Ummmm. Crickets. Eye rolls. Shock. And that’s why we actually love to watch AthenaX!

From here the evening gets very dark. We have a conversation about the fact that Melissa is not in attendance because of what transpired between her and AthenaX on the boat. Despite our protestations, AthenaX is convinced that this is in fact not the reason for her absence but rather that AthenaX’s artwork is too advanced for Melissa.
I was actually very uncomfortable being part of this conversation. To talk about someone like that, to belittle someone like that… it made me uncomfortable, and it made me angry. How calling someone a pot plant could be construed as a compliment is beyond me.
AthenaX could not accept that I had a great time getting to know Melissa on the boat.

Unfortunately, it was at this point that AthenaX completely lost control and started screaming at the top of her lungs. I was horrified – I think we all were.
Even though she called me a f******* idiot, my intention wasn’t to make AthenaX look like a fool (which was her understanding of the situation), but rather to show yet again, how little she knows about each of us.
She doesn’t listen, because she thinks she already knows everything, and she can always justify her behavior no matter how rude and outrageous.
Poor Krissy really tried to calm her down but AthenaX continued her onslaught.

Lisa shows up later in the evening, to support AthenaX and to view her paintings (that she painted when she regressed to her past life as a Swiss noble ruler).
From here the evening took an even darker turn. Lisa’s attack on Krissy seemed to come from nowhere, and it was vicious. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a woman treat another woman like that. To attack so ferociously, with such vulgarity and lies…and to do it in front of an audience is so completely out of line. They may not have connected, and they may not “get” each other, but there was absolutely no justification for Lisa to do and say what she did.
Krissy is honestly such a good person and a wonderful wife and mother, and she did not deserve that attack from Lisa.
Of course, AthenaX shows herself to be the one fuelling the fire and making up lies to Lisa about things that Krissy has said about her. If that wasn’t bad enough she then had the audacity to say I didn't have Lisa’s back.
Unfortunately Lisa just believes the lies that AthenaX spins which is very hurtful because it couldn’t have been further from the truth…and as her friend, it was very hard to watch.
And just like that, another episode comes to an end. Tomorrow I'll be sharing my Behind the Scenes photos, stories and what really happened at Athena's exhibition - so be sure to check back tomorrow to read that.
Until then,
